Scripture says those who view godliness as a means of gain have a depraved mind and are deprived of the truth.
5 and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain. 1 Timothy 6:5
It’s common knowledge that Kenneth Copeland is one of the worst money grubbing prosperity preachers. Dr. Michael Brown declared him a brother. In his statement Brown seems aware of the issues surrounding Copeland.
“I strongly differ with a lot of teaching that he’s done.”
“I strongly differ with a lot of his word of faith emphasis”
“For decades I have written against and spoken against the prosperity gospel.”
“I abhor the carnal prosperity message.”
He mentions the prosperity gospel when Copeland is mentioned, so I think it’s reasonable to think Brown knows that is what Copeland teaches.
If scripture says Copeland has a depraved mind and is deprived of the truth, do we have to consider him a brother just because he has a doctrinal statement up that’s within the bounds of orthodoxy?
